Home Tour: Avant-Angles; an eclectic-neon-industrial Home in Seattle.

Updated: Apr 19, 2023

If we had to describe this space in one word it would be: interesting. Every detail of this home was crafted with a unique backstory, design concept or just straight playful energy that resulted in an eclectic-neon-industrial-Scandinavian-party pad.

Scroll through to discover all the things you never knew you need in a home:

Crafted by ABODE, this Seattle Residence starts it’s unique-factor with a division of space that will have all you ‘pro hosts’ wanting to tear down your current home…

The home is sectioned into 2 separate buildings, connected by the front foyer and closed off by a large barn door. The “Party Pad” building is the central living and entertaining space - kitchen, living room, dining room and bar with full indoor/outdoor access to the patio are all here. The “Home Sweet Home” building is where relaxation and comfort stay - the bedrooms, bathrooms and rec spaces are sectioned off here.

The concept behind this layout was inspired by the homeowner's desire to have a lively entertaining space that didn’t impede on their more personal spaces (and provided some noise reduction for anyone who is over being at the party 😉).

As you enter the home, you’re welcomed into this Scandinavian-inspired foyer that overlooks the back patio through this stunning Kolbe Windows VistaLuxe WD picture window. The barn door (seen on the right-hand side) is the divider between these spaces; once closed, guests are easily directed into the “Party Pad” side leaving the comforts of personal space unseen.

As you enter the “Party Pad” you are treated to an electric, colourful and musically inspired living & entertainment area.

The centerpiece of the room (arguably against the antique bar that was procured from the bar where the owners met and stored for 15 years before placing it in this home) is the VistaLuxe WD Folding Door that stretches nearly the entire wall on the right!! The owners wanted this side of the home to be entertainment-focused through and through – we worked with ABODE to custom create this one-sided folding door configuration so it perfectly fits with the space to allow for seamless entertainment from the kitchen and bar to the patio.

The patio stretches between the two buildings, utilizing the center space for outdoor partying, gardening & other activities.

The exterior finishings are industrial-inspired, creating a cool, modern aesthetic that perfectly contrasts with the warmth of the interior. The VistaLuxe WD line was chosen for its unique combination of extruded aluminum exteriors and warm wood interiors (along with its industry-leading frame-to-daylight-opening ratio and enhanced energy efficiency), allowing for contrasting yet complimentary styles inside and outside.

The windows across the back of the living space are VistaLuxe WD direct-set windows with an Accent exterior profile and mulled with awning windows on either side of the corner, combined with a custom top window. This configuration was chosen to exaggerate the height of the room and allow for all-season ventilation.

Once outside, the “Home Sweet Home” building is connected by a VistaLuxe WD French door off the lower floor guest bedroom, creating the perfect spot to enjoy a slow cup of coffee (and we’re pretty sure that green chair is for that exact purpose). The upper level also features a VistaLuxe WD in-swing French door that opens to a European Juliette balcony off the master bedroom.

The other side of this home plays more into the Scandinavian design style with more minimal, yet eclectic, design features. Immediately across from the barn door divider is this bold blue bathroom complete with “Dinosaurs in the Bathroom” and David Bowie as a duck (Ziggy Starduck as it were) on the VistaLuxe WD push-out casement window ledge.

The stairwell is light-up by an oversized VistaLuxe WD picture window, flooding the hallways with natural light. The main hallway that connects the master bedroom, ensuite and rec room feature narrow crank-out casement windows, bringing light and air into the space. The warm wood interior finish of the windows combined with the natural pine flooring and white walls creates a space that just feels comfortable, bright and playful.

A truly unique and interesting property filled with personality, lively gatherings & natural light.
